The annual Steep LTC Championship Finals started at 12 noon and was well attended, most notably this year by young families with children out to enjoy the wonderful sunshine.

In the Men's Singles Jonathan Graham beat David Jarvis 6-1, 6-2.

The Ladies' Singles category had been played at an earlier date when Maria Nash beat Carol Norris 6-2, 6-0.

Men's Doubles was won by Robin Shaw and Martin Sharp 7-5, 0-6, 6-4 against David Justesen and Jakob Bloch.

Ladies' Doubles was won by Denise Hariton and Sharon Russ 6-2, 6-1 against Maria Nash and Jo Goodship.

Mixed Doubles was won by Martin Sharp and Cathy Robinson 7-5, 6-1 against Robin Shaw and Maria Nash.

The Handicap Doubles was a walkover to Judy and Chris Entress.

Boys' under 18s was also a walkover to Tom Simpkins as was the Boys' under 16s to Ben Fitzpatrick.

Boys' under 14s was won by Robbie McCallum when Finton Bridger unfortunately had to retire due to an injury at 6-4, 4-1.

Boys' under 12s was an epic battle lasting almost 3 hours under the blazing skies which Harry Green finally won  4-6, 7-5, 7-6 against Myles Fitzpatrick.

Trophies were awarded to the players by Club President Eric Dempster and a splendid Wimbledon Tea and Pimms were laid on by his wife Eunice. Tournament Director Peter Clist ensured that the day ran smoothly assisted by umpires Graham and Rosemary Swan.
