Steep Ladies A team returned to their winning ways with an 8-0 win over Swanmore last weekend. Captain Cathy Robinson and partner Ann Saunders took all their four sets with skill and determination as the swirling wind and aggressive play from the opposition played its part. Their winning partnership won through  6-1, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-1. Steep second pair, Penny Curran and Tanya Murray had an equally successful day with slightly different conditions as their court was more protected from the wind. Their confident, and at times, dazzling play showed their class and they won their sets 6-4 6-3, 6-4 6-1
 
On Monday night Steep played a much delayed fixture against Midhurst A under the floodlights at Steep. Robinson and Saunders again represented Steep as the clubs premier pair and struck a rich vein of form which left the opposition asking where they could put the ball where the Steep pair couldn't reach it. Robinson and Saunders managed to win their four sets with the loss of only three games, which was encouraging considering the strength of the opposition. Steep's second pairing of Michele Mangham and Helen Marsh had a rough ride against the experienced Midhurst first pair and they lost their first two sets; however, they dug deep against some accurate hitting from the Midhurst second pair and won through to clinch victory 6-4 6-4.
