A 7-1 victory for Steep against Haslemere in the East Hants Div 1 Winter League at Church Road on Saturday on the one sunny morning of the weekend.

Steep's 1st pair, Duncan Read and Ann Saunders, beat the teenage pair Haslemere 1sts, 6-2, 6-2. Read once again demonstrated his amazing range of both touch shots and groundstrokes taken on the rise. The Steep pair hardly missed a service return and broke most of their opponents' serves. Martin Sharp and Karen Deane won 3 of their sets, beating the Haslemere 2's 6-3, 6-1 and drawing with the teenagers, 4-6, 7-5. Deane taking the place of the injured Cathy Robinson demonstrated why she is 'A' team material by her consistency and her deftness of touch. Sharp played with his usual consistency and complete range of shots and his inside out forehand down the line won the pair several points. Next Saturday the Mixed A's will be facing Swanmore A's once again at Steep.
